This introduction to using the small programmable robot, the BeeBot, introduces children to creating simple programs. They learn the importance of sequences of accurate instructions, and test their sequences out using a 'fakebot' or paper-robot. Children are encouraged to debug and develop their sequences before programming the actual device and sharing their findings. Many methods for assisting conceptual understanding are provided, with group activities that encourage feedback and peer instruction. Extensive teacher notes offer guidance on assessment and differentiation. Suggestions for creating 'mats' provide multiple opportunities for practicing sequencing through engaging topics.
